  5. {A{5  I  know I'm always complaining about
  6. Sky's  subscription  packages.  But at
  7. last  I  have evidence that they are a
  8. bunch of conning twats.

  10. Recently,  whilst  reading  a  copy of
  11. either Satellite Times or Satellite TV
  12. Europe  (I can't remember which) I saw
  13. a  short  article  which proved all my
  14. worst fears.

  16. I  had  been wondering since the start
  17. of  the  new year when VH1 and Nick At
  18. Nite  were  going  to start.  I waited
  19. and  waited.   I  would  check all the
  20. satellite  press,  check  all teletext
  21. systems  and  even  read  all the bumf
  22. that came through the post from Sky.

  27. I then noticed something.  In all this
  28. stuff  there  was no mention of VH1 or
  29. Nick   At   Nite.    When   they  were
  30. mentioned,  they  just  said that they
  31. were starting soon.

  33. Then  I  got  very suspicious.  The TV
  34. advert  for  the multi-channels was on
  35. TV  and  I  noticed  one  thing.   The
  36. diagram  with  the little screens that
  37. all  scrambled  when the announcer was
  38. talking   about  subscriptions,  there
  39. wasn't  one  for  VH1 or Nick At Nite.
  40. No  talk of them, no logo with all the
  41. pthers,  not  even a blank space where
  42. it should be.

  45. {tb{A{5The  new leaflets saying how you could
  46. watch  Sky free for 30 days, this does
  47. mention  the  channels  and  says that
  48. they   will  start  later  this  year.
  49. Well,  people  who  take  advantage of
  50. this offer will probably subscribe and
  51. will  be  paying Sky their hard earned
  52. money  before  they  realise that they
  53. have been conned.

  55. {C{6         WHAT AM I ON ABOUT ?

  57. {A{5Well,  I'm  talking  about Sky's Multi
  58. Channel  2  Package.   Yes, later this
  59. year  there  will  be  a seconds multi
  60. package  which  will almost definitely
  61. consist  of  Sky  Sports  2,  VH1, The
  62. Sci-Fi  Channel,  The  Travel  Channel
  63. among  other channels that will launch
  64. on  Astra  1D.   Nick At Nite is still
  65. supposed   to   be   going   on  after
  66. Nickelodean.  The only problem is that
  67. TV  Asia have that transponder at that
  68. time.   Whether they'll sort it out or
  69. not,   no   one  knows.   But  VH1  is
  70. supposed  to  take  one of the current
  71. MTV  transponders (transponder 22) but
  72. CMTE  have  also bid for this and look
  73. set  to  get  it.   So CMTE will be on
  74. Astra  24  hours  a  day and what will
  75. share  Discovery's  transponder  is  a
  76. mystery.

  78. But  people  have  paid  for the multi
  79. channels  including  VH1.   And  if we
  80. don't  get  it  then Sky have broken a
  81. contract and, in theory, we could sue.
  82. They'll  probably  have a claus in the
  83. contract that says they have the right
  84. to  change  the  line  up  but  people
  85. should  take  notice  of this incident
  86. and  shouldn't  be  so trusting in the
  87. future.
